Types of Trauma

Physical Abandonment

The act of leaving a child without proper care or supervision, which can result in harm or danger to the child’s well-being.

Physical Neglect

The failure of a parent or caregiver to provide the necessary physical care and basic needs that a child requires for healthy growth and development.

Physical Abuse

Any intentional act of violence or harm that results in injury, pain, or impairment of a child’s physical health or well-being.

Sexual Abuse

Any sexual activity or behavior that is imposed on a child by an adult or older child.

Emotional Abandonment

The failure of a parent or caregiver to provide the necessary emotional support and care that a child needs to develop a healthy sense of self and well-being.

Emotional Neglect

The failure of a parent or caregiver to provide the necessary emotional support and attention that a child needs for healthy development.

Emotional Abuse

Any pattern of behavior that causes psychological harm or trauma to a child.
